Quoted: Thanks for the welcome. In a nutshell this is what I want; An accurate representation of the AK-47 as close to the original minus full auto of course. I would like it to be a quality piece that looks as good as it shoots. I'm hoping I can find one in the $500 range. Does this rifle exsist?

From this I'm gathering you want a copy of the Russian milled?
Chances are that you'll have to go with a custom build. The Bulgarian milled offerings which we covered; SLR-95, 101S- while it is IMHO one of the best offers out there, misses the mark as far as being authentic as it gets. Consider the Arsenal offerings:
A) Have a 90 degree gas block vs. the "old school" 45 degree.
B) The gas tube doesnt have the vent holes running horizontally.
C) Needs threaded with a muzzle protector (Muzzle nut) on the end.
D) Needs a bayo lug
E) The current SLR-101S runs ~$600 range. Better deals have popped up on the EE:
ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=7&f=122Of course since the 94 ban went bye-bye, there are new offerings and variants coming out. So this list isn't all-inclusive. It just seems that when the companies to throw out a "correct" variant, it costs.
I'm not sure how the LEGEND series by Norinc/Polytech stack up against the genuine issue Russian AKs. They're as close to correct for the Vietnam conflict as possible however they are rare and run 1K+... I'm not sure what type of bayonet the Russians used and whether the LEGEND misses the mark on bayonet attachment or not...
Hopefully someone with more wisdom than I on the subject can point you in the right direction.... *cough* There's more than a few here *cough*
