I'd say a good commie magazine, with metal if polymer.
Aside from that, a good sling. |
|
For me, the best non-accessory mods (tac light, optic, vertical grip, sling, etc.) are a better pistol grip and trigger than factory.
Are you going to provide some more info on your BHO modification. Nice photo, but no info..... |
|
Throwing it down the drive way, of course!
J/K. A rail and a red dot. |

opening up the rear sight a smidge with a small file.
does wonders. |

Better trigger, G2s are very inexpensive and make a big difference.

It's amazing what removing 1/16 off each side does for my shooting. Optics? It's an AK. Nuff said. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Any pic's? i'm very interested in this I can take some, but it's hard to tell it's not stock if you will. Bought a small file set at Home Depot, used the flat small one and took a little off each side, not much at all but it sure does wonders. I'll wait till my next range trip to adjust as needed (more filing) |

This + filing the front post to a point. At 100 yards the front post normally covers about 6-8 inches, a point makes for more precise aiming at longer distances. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

That's a good idea I may give that a try! also may try opening up the rear as stated above! |

Ammunition!
Well I suppose that is more nnecessity. So I am going to go with a decent trigger. |
|
|
I'm also going to say Tapco G2 single hook FCG, Krebs extended safety, and US Palm or Magpul pistol grip. Those are must haves on my AK's.
|
|
Depends on what you call a mod...
If you also mean accessories then I would say the same thing for every long gun, a sling and/or light. |

The BEST thing that I put on my rifles is the Hogue AK Grip...Much better than the stock AK grip.
http://www.hoguestore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=6482 If your trigger is not that good then replace it with a Tapco G2 trigger set (they are great AK triggers). |

I'm kinda tied between an aftermarket pistol grip of the axis pin retaining plate...........

But basically just remove the safety lever and cut a notch with a cutting tool or dremel like the one pic'd above. |

Accu Wedge. It makes you shoot more gooder. It's proven. With science.
Ah, crap! Wrong thread... No seriously, for me, it has to be an aftermarket grip. The standard AK grip is too small for my giant, bear like, American man hands. I like the US Palm grip and the MFT Engage, haven't tried the Magpul grip yet. ...and +1 for the Fuller sight mod and pin retainer plates. |

Tapco G2, axis pin retainer plate, and PBS-1 adjustable rear sight would probably be my top 3.
|

Every AK needs aftermarket grip of choice(for me it's a us palm or magpul), axis pin plate, and krebs enhanced safety.

So I'm relatively new to all of this, but of the few modifications that I've done on my first AK (SAR-1) I'd say that replacing the Century FCG and polishing it down real nice to smooth out the action has been real beneficial. I like the sounds of filing the front and rear sights, is there a thread on that one? My .02.

View Quote polishing the action is the first thing i do when i get a new firearm, as far as filing goes, i only did the rear sight with a small round needle file, just make sure you take equal amounts off from each side, you wouldn't think it makes a big difference but i does......BTW thanks guy's for that tip |
