You know how the AR/M4 has the 50 yard IBSZ that will not deviate more than 2" from line of sight out to 220 meters? Is there something similar for a 7.62x39 AK? I know that the 7.62x39 is not nearly as flat a shooter as 5.56 but is there an optimal point of aim/point of impact zero range to achieve the best trajectory possible?

I have a Mojo MicroClick peep sight on my WASR so I can't just set it at "1", "2", etc. like on a regular AK sight.

According to Head's Bunker, if you zero at 50 yards, you'll have the same POI at 150 yards, and you'll deviate less than 2" at any point out to 200 yards.

You could also zero at 200 yards and be I think 3.5" high at 100.

Even 7.62x39 dosen't drop much out to 200 yards. It will drop 10" at 300 yards and 41" at 400 yards if you have a 200 yard zero though.

Unfortunately that zero is for a Kobra sight, which sits higher than standard irons. That extra height skews the equation.

I don't see how it would, except at very close ranges, and then only by an inch or so.

Correct me if there's not something I'm getting.

You may be right, but I'm not sure. This whole trajectory thing takes some thought (and preferably a ballistic computer program!). Right now I'm trying to figure out differences in drops on my TA11C ACOG for M80 Ball on a flattop when the thing was designed for 168gr from a carry handle! Talk about confusing

You're probably right though: for the ranges that an AK is good for it may not matter. For longer distances it probably would (like in my .308 ACOG scenario).
