Mine has the typical stock w/ the serial number carved into the side of it.

What wood is used on these stocks?

Most of the ones I've seen are elm. There are also a number out there with beech.  The elm ones are the ones a lot of people think are teak.

Beech and Birch (they used both) according to Zrecto (AK wood guru).

Thanks for the replies.

I just pulled all the wood yesterday and noticed the stock is a good solid piece of hardwood. I'm going to put a oil finish on it.
