The front site tool from Tapco works perfect. However, you may need a wrench to get the drift started.

A c-clamp, an oversized socket and an undersized socket for windage. If you have a complete buttstock cleaning kit from any other AK there is already a tool for the elevation, either a punch or a screwdriver device thingy I think, I just use a small punch. Once you have the windage set correctly you shouldn't have to mess with it again. I bent one of the Tapco tools once cranking on a frozen sight.

You can also use a punch out of one of those punch sets that have like 6 or 8 different diameter punches. A punch and a plastic mallet will move the windage for you. Put some penetrating oil on the front sight base and in from the top elevation adjustment before trying to adjust windage. It will get in there and make it easier.

BankerBilly gifted me with a BSquare one, and it is very nice. But the clamp method works too, esp with a spare set of hands to hold things in place until snugged up.

You put the socket smaller in diameter than the front site block windage drum on the side you want to push from, you put the larger diameter socket on the opposite side (it is a diameter larger than the windage drum so that no pressure/blockage of movement is exerted on the windage drum) you then secure them in the C-clamp and tighten the C-clamp down. As you tighten the C-clamp the small socket will move the windage drum. |
