I now want a Galil but I've come across a few Valmets as well in my internet searches - I like the way the M76 looks - but what's the difference between these two?  They seem to be around the same price and both have sterling reputations.  Thanks!

All galils have milled receivers and are either in .223 or .308 Average price around $2500 and up , way up.

Valmet 76s come in stamped .223 for around $1500 and milled around .223 and 7.62x39 around $2500 and .308 price?

there are other models that come in .308 1600-2400

and other stamped models like the 71 that can be had at 1200 or so.

I have a Valmet 62S which is a milled rifle in 7.62x39 and two Galils in ,223
I have owned 2 .308 galils but my personal preference in 308 is my FAL or my M1A so I sold them.

thay are all very nice rifles.

jmikesteen,

Thanks for the reply!  I may just have to get a Valmet M76 in .223 instead of a Galil.  Less expensive and I already have a ton of the ammo.

Do you know what the LOP is for an M76?
