2 or more fingers attached to a nut and screw

Unless the AK uses something else called a gear puller
the finger tips attach to the edge of the gear and you turn the center screw.
As the screw is turned it puts outward pressure on the shaft and slowly pulls the gear off.
Not expensive and they can be rented but I don't know if the rentable ones are used on a AK

The autozone 25190 puller is a whole $20 and works well.

As above, but use nickels - I busted two sets of four penies, then used just two nickels and the barrel came right out. The trick is getting the bolt in the puller to line up along the bore of the barrel. The same thing applies when pressing the barrel back in.
