What's a Suomi? Is that some kind of submachinegun? What caliber is it?

Finnish 9mm WW2 subgun. The Tapco 71rnd drums and 36 rnd sticks are like new (have several of each, along with Sten and Tommy mags just in case....)

If that was in 7.62 X 25, I would be on that like ham on a sandwhich.

So have one made there are 7.62 drums that fit the russian version of the soumi and have a 30cal barrel chambered, have the bolt altered and there you go!

It actually looks pretty sweet.  I'd prefer different handguards, but other then that it would be a fun plinker.

I wonder if it's reliable?

It really wouldn't even be that hard.  You could use the same drum mag (were it leagal in this state)

Since the case would be bottle necked you would have to alter the feed ramp a little.

The only issue would be a barrel. I would insist on the proper .307 barrel.

No doubt! Over 10 lbs. unloaded! Found some better pics, I'm kinda guessing the stick mags are a no-go? www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=11886448

obershultz, From what I'v seen, most of those suomi drums that have been imported are actually Russian made, for the Ppsh41, in 7.62X25mm cal. They were captured by the finns in their Winter war and continuation war with the russians during WW2.(The finns kicked the Russian Bear's ass, big time) The drums were originally made by the finns, Russians stole the design and manufactured it in 7.62x25, finns captured them and converted back to 9mm by inserting plate inside the drum. Remove the plate and load 7.62. Russian made has a Stamped T, inside a circle, on the drum, stands for TULA Arsenal.
