We are trying to get original AK-47s and Chinese Type 56 and 56-1 added to the BATF C&R List. Were AK-47s "dated" like SKS rifles in the serial number?...or how were the dates of manufacture noted? ....or is there any web-site that might have this information?
Any additional information on the serial-number vs. date-of-manufacture will be greatly appreciated.
   Thanks in advance,  RichardS.

Isn't the '89 import ban based on when they were imported and not when they were made. How would this play into a C&R attempt.

We are trying to have the "Full-Auto" original AK-47, and Chinese Type 56 and 56-1 added to the NFA Section at the end of the C&R List (the Class III weapons). ...but not the modified (Form 1) weapons or the semi-only weapons. I hope that this clears this up a little.
Does anyone have information on "Dates-of-Manufacture" on different serial-numbers? (like the Chinese SKS rifles were dated by the first digits of their serial-number).
    Thanks again, RichardS.
