I realize this is way off topic, but I only get smart-ass answers on the AR-15 side.

Thankfully AK owners (or AK owners who also have ARs) are most pleasant to hang out with!

I would like to buy the load bearing vest, that is currently in use by our military.

Where would be a good source to get a mil-spec version of this vest?

I don't want the cheapest, I want one that is just like the ones issued.

Do you want an LBV, or a MOLLE FLC?

LBV's are a dime a dozen and you could probably buy one at a gunshow for $10.

The FLC can be purchased from the manufacturer (SDS) here: secure.specialtydefense.com/cgi-bin/sds/scan/sf=category/se=Load%20Bearing%20Vests/sf=inactive/se=0/op=eq.html

The one I am issued is the one at the top (SKU 4115, woodland camo)

Out of curiousity, do you want this as a collectible, or to actually wear it? If you're actually going to wear it, there are much better vests out there.

Sigurd,

I want the LBV.  I know there are better vests, but that is the one I want.

It will be more of  a collectible.

Is the LBV the same as the old LCE?  If so, those things are trash.

We have the Molle FLC out here... its not too bad.

Here is the USGI LBV. Official name is "Vest, Tactical load bearing" or something like that.

Stolen pic from some airsoft website (thanks google)

It was a special issue item. Everyone also got/gets the old ALICE suspenders.

There is also a later version which is mostly mesh.

It was replaced by the MOLLE, and the SPEARS/BALCS (For Special Forces, who get the MOLLE as well).

Airsoft?!?!?  I think NOT!

I was going to use it for something tactical like when I have to fight off the rampaging hordes of rogue microwaves....
