If you like that caliber you will like the rifle and they have the rifle in stock I believe. I went with the .223 just for ammo availability and I have found that the Robinson mags work great and my Bulgarian mags work great and my converted mags with Robinson followeres work great and I can buy cheap ammo at almost any store. I would love to have the 7.62x39 carbine. If you can get the 5.45 ammo easily I would say go for it. The mags for that caliber are cheap.

I've got a VEPR-k in 5.45 and I absolutely love it. It's hard to believe an AK can shoot this sweet! I pop a proverbial boner every time it fires. Leaps and bounds better than my SAR-2
Yes, the ammo is less common than .223 - but aside from the recent temporary shortage it's not hard to get ahold of. I say get one. |
