Personally I like a side folder. Side folders are faster to transition and generally offer a more stable platform.

under folders are not as bulky, but do cover the safetly lever and can not be easitly opened into action with a 30 round mag in place and need sto also sweep over the grip (but then again, it's either out and ready, or folded and stowed). They are comfortable to shoot with a large heel to shoulder, though the cheek weld to the metal can be uncomfortable if you're out in the sun.

i tend to think underfolders have a certain "cool" factor to them much more than the side folders, although the sider folders are more stable. i pick- both

This topic has been brought up many times. What I think the general consensus is that the side folder is more comfortableand easier to deploy. the UF is absolutely the best in cool factor.
To me the UF bites my shoulder and leaves marks especially on quick shots and follow up shots if not held very firm, the side folder is ergonomically a better platform. But, you shouldn't have one without the other. |

 underfolder all the way. and if you can't hit what you're shooting , at 100 yards with the stock closed, then buy a fixed stock AR.  mmk

Very nice USMC88-93. you known the bitch of it is, when i bought my poly underfolder he had the sidefolder for the same price. dammit i should have bought both. mmk

underfolders are hard to shoot unless you cant them to the side...it's just the ergonomics of your shoulder
sidefolders are a little better |

Underfolders are cool 'cause they scare the pants off libs.
AK74M and Galil-type skeleton sidefolders; better shooter than an underfolder AK100 sidfolder; I don't know yet, but I can't wait to find out

Assuming for a moment that we dont care about what is 'correct' for a particular rifle..
Triangle or polymer sidefolder. The triangle is almost as compact as the underfolder, but a lot better shooting I would imagine. (havent shot an underfolder) I think the polymer folder would be the best for shooting, since its basically a fixed stock, but it looks wider than the triangle. |

I have the tapco side folder on my wasr-10,it suits me just fine.I know a lot of people here dont like it,but it makes for a more compact rifle in storage and is very solid when shooting

Damn... now where can I find a desperate Brunet and Blond that will put up with an AK nut like me? As for AKs... I like a wood stock best as a shooter but I am building one of each... Wood, Underfolder, Sidefolder, and No Stock (pistol)... The wife doesn't mind if I collect these but I don't think she would be happy if I came home with a Blond and a Brunette to try out... perhaps I should ask and tell her HillbillyAL said I should As for folder, the Romanian with the push button is about the best I have tried as far as comfort. The AMD-65 folder is pretty nice too... The underfolder does bit ya a little if you get into it wrong but they do look cool. |
