im thinkin about getting a SAR 3 but before i just dive in id like to get some info. anyone know what kind of groups they are capible of? whats a good price range? and are all the cosmetic parts interchangeable with other ak47 's (stock, handguard, etc.) thankz 4 your posts in advance.

They are capable of about 3MOA, in my experience.  Price is difficult to say as they haven't been imported in over a year.  $400 sounds right.  Cosmetic parts are interchangable with the same degree of fitting required in any AK.  Unique parts are the magazine (use Wiegers from Interordinance), bolt and firing pin (unavailable).  You'll need to replace the hammer with the Red Star Arms unit to prevent premature wear on the bolt since the Century hammer is usually poorly fitted to the bolt.  You may want to replace the Fire Control Group as the Century one tends towards trigger slap.

They're great guns, very light in recoil and capable of greater accuracy than the standard 7.62X39 AKM.  The magazine Century supplies will not work reliably, but the Wieger is a real quality mag, German made, all steel and nicely finished.  Also look out for canted front sight bases, fairly simple to fix but irritating when you have it.

If there is a sar3 available anywhere, while you're thinkin' about it, someone else is buying it! These critters are getting really hard to find. It's a really good ak varient, so if you can get one, DO IT!  

whats the differences between an SAR 2 and an SAR3?  i know the caliber differences. which is a better gun over all? reliability,accuracy etc. thanx again

I have each of the bores, and I really like them both. I do seem to prefer the 5.45 because they  have a no recoil response during rapid fire, they never break, they are always ready to do the deed, but then again so is the .223, & then again so is the 7.62. I guess I'm saying, get em' all, I did & am still doing it. Damn, I need help!!

I'm new here too.  I've had a SAR-3 since April.  I do fire it quite a bit, because up until last week, it was my only rifle.  Now I got an ArmaLite M15 I can shoot, as well.  Anyway, back to your question.  The SAR-3 is a really nice gun.  I shot a full-auto 7.62 AK a couple years ago, and to say the least, it was cool but I couldn't control it very good.  I fire my SAR-3 almost as fast as that AK sometimes and it's real easy to control.  The ammo costs a little bit more than the 7.62 round.  Be careful of the mag that comes with it; it's a brownish-colored plastic one.  It's actually a 5.45 mag.  It will accept I think 30 .223 rounds, but the gun will not be able to load the first one; it'll go in crooked jam up.  If you load that clip with 10-12 rounds, it is fine.  I'm going to a gunshow in a couple weeks where I hope to get more clips; possibly the German ones.  I almost never clean this gun to be hones, and I shoot Wolf, but the gun is still very fun to shoot and reliable.  It feels like a genuine AK.  I always have competitions with my friend to see who can shoot a line of clay pigeons off a burm at 25 yeards; he has a Bushmaster AR-15, and 99% of the time, I win.  Great little gun.  Oh, and BTW, I got a steal on mine-$300 and some change after taxes and a couple boxes of ammo.  Used, but almost brand-new.  The gun itself was only $280, and the guys here are right-you almost never see them.  I saw one at a gunshow a while back for a lot of money, and that's the last one I've ever seen.

ok thanks guys. i already have a 7.62 polytech and its pretty awsome but you can never have too many ak's. im headed to knob creek in october so ill c if i can find a 5.45 there for a decent price.

yea. i understand. but ive looked into it and im leaning toward the sar2. but if i get a good deal on either one i wont be picky. what does anyone think about guns N stuff's wasr 2 and wasr 3 rifles. anyone have experience with them?
