hey guys - first post over here - I have the burning desire to add my first AK to the stable - pro's/con's for the 7.62x39 vs. 5.45x39 SARS for my first addition...thanks!!

SARs are good rifles in my experience. But you may not have much luck finding an SAR right now. Chances are you will find WASRs like crazy, but no SARs. That being said, I would probably get which ever caliber you find most interesting. I personally have both, and I enjoy both calibers for their unique qualities. FWIW in my area 7.62x39 is usually easier to find than 5.45x39. Or you could do the true AR15.com/AK47.net thing and get both!

I have a line on both - can only justify one at this time!!! (re: domestic tranquility) - both appear like new, $40 more for the SAR-2...I am leaning towards the original...guide me gurus!!

If I could only have one, I would get the SAR-1. Simply for ammo availability.

I have both and I concur with getting the SAR-1 first. Then I would see if I could put the SAR-2 on hold until I scrap together the funds.
