When did the Russians start using them?  I have seen a real Tula Krink with out it, but the rest had them.  Does anyone know?  Thanks!

The Russians DID not use the plate on their  AKS-74U's, the Bulgarians did. The Russian AKS-74 DID use the plate.

There is a high probability that some of the early Izhmash produced Krinks had the plate.
