I know there is a mag forum, but responseis slow or not at all. Any way, I may have the opportunity to do a little international trading (on a small scale and all legal!) and was wondering what kind of Russian mags are hard to get so I can request them and add them to my collection. I am thinking some Bakelites with Arsenal stamps; 45 round RPK bakelites(such a creature?); and any other suggestions you guys may have. I am avoiding drums due to shipping costs. Thanks for any help!

Like these Mags The plum mags with waffles or ribs are very rare. Any 45 rounders for the 74's Any think Bakelite with Russian markings are good. The drums are not that heavy and the 100 rounders are fetching alot of cash now too.

I will keep the 5.45 stuff in mind. i am trying to build up my 7.62 collection. I only have one AK as of right now, but I absolutely love it! More rifles will be in the future once I get rid of the wife.

I'm talking about divorce you deviants.

Travis-I anxiously await the pics! As far as the wife, no toys or amount of money would make me stay-I'm at that point!!!

Also, How rare and valuable are the aluminums? Just curious.

Those must be late AKMs because the gas block isn't typical AKM style...correct?

Very nice picture, wish I could see MORE like that!

Alrighty, here ya go. I also included a Chinese Norinco 66 mag as well. These have been a PIA to find these days. I think Johno hoarded all of them - Dirty Dog!

Oh yea, I'm not a very good Photgrapher! I wish someone would give us some tips!

The Russians are here then their not. I think Jugrunner has hoarded most of these that are in the US into his collection

Do you need pics of Russian Slab Sides?

Pair of Tulas * Russian (Personal Favorite)

Ishy * Russian - I guess like these too

Norico

Wow! thanks alot guys!! Does anybody have one of the aluminums? I am thinking of having him try to get me one of these as well.
Link Posted: 1/13/2006 12:31:00 AM EST
It all depends on where they are from.

"Downrange" somewhere, I would only look for the super rare ones like 30rd plum ribbed 7.62 or RPK 40rd 7.62 bakelite. Unless he found some stash, they are generally going to be beat to crap and not worth the bother.

A former Soviet republic, then any. Just remember that in many, AK mags are illegal to even possess, so shipping them out is difficult, if not impossible.

These are the ones I am going to have him search for-slabsides; aluminum; 30 and 40 round bakelites, and the 45 round plum ribbed. What do you think?

Also, what is the approximate going rate for a slabsides here now?

Make sure you take into account Stottmans warnings. ..

Generally a very nice Slab Side No rust dents etc 50 - 60 ..

a couple blemishes - 45-50
slabs with rust or refinsihed slabs 30 -35 tops.
