Were they ever for sale in the US??

If so where? I would like to buy at LEAST... one.

What nationality are the mags  that come with the SAR-2?

So are there any metal 5.45 mags available?

If I set up an AIMS-74 clone, I'd love to have a Romanian 30-round 5.45 mag tg go with it.

Never seen any in the US, other then the few I sent to the US.

After 1 OCT, I will have some 40rd mags for sale. Price will be $200 for a sealed 5 pack. The ban will be over, so I can ship them to the US.

What about the crappy 5 rounders that came with the rifles?  You know, the ones that sucked and all went into the trash.

All come on.. I need them for a possible RPK-74.

How's an RPK-74 going to look with a 5-round mag hanging out of it!

Somebody must be hoarding them or they truly did get pitched.  I wouldn't mind having a couple of the 5rnd mags but haven't been able to find any.

i know someone who has steel ak74 mags.  i don't know what country they came from.  he's a gun show dealer.  i think he has around a dozen or more of them.  i can't remember what he wanted for them as far as the prices.  the look like normal AK47 mags, but don't curve as much.

i'll give him a call this afternoon and post back here.  i'd like a general price range if you guys know what their worth.  this guy doesn't know a whole lot about AKs.

IO used to sell their Romanian 30rd mags for about $20 I think. Now the going rate for both Polish and Romanian are $50 each.

From what I have heard the Polish steel mags have a painted type finish, while the Romanian steel mags have a black pakerize type finish.

They appear to have a finish like Chinese AK mag not park, and look like a E,G mag with the ridge
 down the back....Thanx

I am also curious if the 7.62x39 mags could be converted to work with the 5.45 round?  Does anybody know what is special about these mags?  Now that the ban is gone it seems to me that someone should be able to cut or modify some 7.62 mags to work with the SAR-2....

The -47 mags are a little fatter and I THINK just a shade shorter. I tried a while back, sticking mags from each into the other (-47 into -74 and vice versa), and neither of them would fit the other (obviously). I was trying to see what the differences are, too, since it doesnt look a whole lot different to the eye. Never got the tape measure out though to get some numbers on the differences.

Here are pics of Polish Tantal 5.45 metal magazine compared to 7.62 metal mag. Obviously, the front lug and rear notch are positioned differently, so you could not insert either of the magazines in wrong weapon.

I like that you are sticking to you guns M4_Aiming_at_U.

I'll pay $20 for every mag M4_Aiming_at_U passes on....

Seriously, I don't want to pay the bucks either.

I did find a couple Polish 5.45 steel mags.

Now the hunt continues for the Romanian 5.45 steel mags.

While on this topic.....

I have an AR-47 and I can run 7.62x39 AK Mags through her and use AR-15 style uppers...  What I am curious of is will 5.45 rounds load and feed from a 7.62x39 mag?  If so, I assume I could have a 5.45 barrel made and make myself a 5.45 upper for the Ar-47 to go withthe one I have in 7.62x39....

Anybody have any guesses if this would work?

Romanian did manufacture 40 rounder 545 mags. Got a pic somewhere. I will see if I can dig it up.

If you want steel 545 mags the Tantal 30 rounders are your best bet. A member here sells them, or did. He was out last time I checked.

Edit to add pic
