There was a guy on Ebay last night selling a special screw set for the AK/AKM receiver. This screw set was specifically designed to put together an AK rifle, without the use of rivets.
I think the name of the outfit was ACE something, but I'm not sure. Are the screws just as good as the rivets????

iirc he is no longer using screws.

Oh, I did not know that. If in fact that is the case, I may have to send him a kit to be built.

Screws are OK...if you have the equiptment or are having someone else build it for you, do the rivits. I used Home Depot stainless for my AK project, built it in my own shop. It shoots as well as any SAR, but if I had the time/equiptment/money i'd have done rivits, they just look better.

I had one gun that used rivets for authenticity, the rest are screwed together. Grade 8 heat treated screws are better than mild steel rivets in my book. They look good too.

My Krink was made by ORF using screws that they weld over on the heads to look like rivets... Damn fine looking weapon.
