I have a Polytech "RPK", and the barrel setup is different from what I would call a standard RPK. Instead of having the bipod mount behind the front sight assembly, my gun has a round extension in front of the sight assembly as a bipod attachment point. There is a muzzle device attached to the end of the round extension. FWIW, the receiver is marked "AKS", and it's a Keng's Import. What kind of variation do I have here? Thanks.

Unfortunately, I don't have a pic, and as of Wednesday, I don't have a camera (dropped my Nikon Coolpix on the lens, with the lens extended.)

From the front, a muzzle device, followed by a 2" or so round extension, followed by main barrel threads and sightbase.

Normal for a Polytech RPK. The chinese never officially adopted the RPK for their military use but they did see the $$ in offering them for sale to US. If it's an early enough import it should have the clubfoot stock too.

It currently has Russian laminated furniture. I've thought about sending it out to be rebarreled with a real RPK tube, but don't feel like dealing with the paperwork right now.

I believe the Chinese "RPK" doesn't have the thicker receiever or bulged trunnion a real RPK has.

chinese recievers have always been of the thicker type but they don't have the budged trunion.
