building an ak is a more difficult project than a fal or ar build...mainly due to the unfamiliarity of the builder with riveting and headspacing a bbl. that is pressed in placed and cross-pinned into location.
that said, if you can build a fal. odds are you can build an ak. you will probably have to buy a few tools and ask some questions, but the principles that apply to building any safe firearm also apply to the kalashnikov.
the polish kits are "good" to "very good", imo...at least the ones i've seen. i do know some have described kits they have received that sounded like "fair" condition. they probably run the spectrum and talking with the supplier is recommended to insure you get a good one.
in order to get a good shooter it is important to select a kit with a bbl. in top shape. many dealers will hand select based on the finish condition of the kit parts and ignore the bore condition (although the bore condition is often reflected in the exterior wear, you now how nice the argie fal bore could be in those well finish-worn kits).
