I have a local GS that has used Polish mags for a good price and I was thinking about buying some.

I never heard of the Polish Steel before, are they any good?

Ok cool,

Second question. If a AK mag has some dents (some of them do) but the follower works fine, do I need to ever worry about reliability?

I don't really care what they look like as long as they work every time

they're awesome. I love Polish, Hungarian and Romanian mags for being tanks.

and if the dents don't hang up the follower, I wouldn't worry about it. If you're super paranoid you can use a screw driver and a hammer to tap them out from the inside.

Good mags. If the follower runs up and down without sticking I use it

I have a couple AKs; but I'm not a real AK guy.
I bought some Polish mags and they don't really fit the Romanian or Bulgarian. Well, one of the whole lot will fit both.
I'd like all mags to interchange with both.
What mods do I need to do to them?
Or is there a tutorial available to do this?
Thanks.

How does it not fit?
Does it not lock up?
Mag body to wide for the Receiver?

Initially they act like they're a shade too wide.
But I'm not trying to force anything.
Was just doing a quick fit check when they came in.
Reading further in the forum it looks like it may be a thick paint issue.
Glad I didn't start a squeeze modification project.

My Polish Radom polymer 7.62x39 mags only fit the Norinco MAK-90 receiver, not my Maadi.

The rear lug won't lock into place on the Maadi, and I've seen this on other AKs as well.

You really have to make sure your mags fit the receiver you have, as they are not universal like the AR15 family.

This applies to pre-Saiga and WASR-10 conversions as well.

Just to clarify, the Polish Radom commercial polymers for $5 are NOT anywhere close to the real steel surplus Polish mags.

The last few good deals I've seen on bulk surplus steel mags were the Polish ones...

some of my polish mags had a ton of paint on them - I hate to sand it off the latch

The blued Polish steels are some of the nicest ever made.

Yes from a couple countries.

I don't have any so don't know if they are GTG.

The cold war mags are a sure thing.

Cool, do you have a link for new production Polish orgin blued steel ak mags? I'd be all over them, as I haven't heard of new Polish blued steels being produced/imported in many moons.  I know there are other countries such as the Korean, Zastava and such, but have yet to see the new Polish.
