which caliber? what sort of shooting goals?
2x is not std, there is a 2.5-5 PSO but it's $200 for a very limited range of adj, there's a 3.5PO with a super field of view but short eye relief makes it 74-only The 4x24 that came on many Romak3s sits low and left for very easy use of irons while mounted. Many of the 54r gun crowd sell theirs off for bigger glass, but you could cheaply go from irons close to 4x out to 200 easily. Or spend more money on a western 1-4x variable and adaptor bracket. |

what I was looking for is something for relatively close range, but not just a regular red dot type sight. Something for accurate fire at just a couple hundred feet, with good eye relief.
caliber would be 7.62. |

This may be what you are seeking, I have read a few happy reviews on the vendor, but ZERO reviews on the item. riflescopes.com is also a good place to sort thru 1-4x western type scopes, which can use a MTK75 bracket with integral rings, or a Belarussian weaver adaptor bracket, either mount for $40ish |

That's not a bad price on that scope either figuring it's including the mount as well. I'm probably going to go ahead and order it in a few days.

JB- Don't get that taiga 2u red dot. I've heard nothing but bad things about it. It was a cool idea for a red dot but a failed attempt at that. Read here: www.gunsnet.net/forums/showthread.php?t=228897 .
