The purpose is to show people my new PKM. The text is in there because I have found that people in-line link to my hosted photos and repost them on various sites and cost me bandwidth. I don't mind them doing it if some of the people who see it find their way to my site.

I am so impressed with it. The quality is excellent. And it is light. Just got it today and can't wait to fire it.

It was only a matter of time before the three magic letters that can never be uttered without pics in the AK Discussion kingdom caught TEMPLAR's attention and piqued his interested.

If I can answer for Mr. Silvers........it's a post '86 sample, which means full boogy.

Ugh, that's horrible. How many Russian Squad-automatics are pre-86 and OK for civvies?

I bet I can have a higher ROF with my SKS than that PKM ! (And still pattern nicely on the berm)

ETA: What kind of PKM is that? A surplus rommy? MGS has one of those for 1300$. Tempting, but where would you find a receiver for it?

It is a post-86, unfired, unmolested, new, Hungarian, full auto, with tripod and six ammo packs. Soon to be fired as it needs to be demoed to a law enforecement agency which I am looking forward to.

This month's SWAT magazine did a review of "weapons of the private contractor" and the author gave a huge 2 thumbs up for the PKM

In fact, he preferred it to the FN belt-fed weapons hands down

Great article and an even better picture

- thanks rsilvers!

Who was the author?

This weapon is a lot lighter than a m240B. I would prefer the m240bB for  vehicle mount or this if I had to carry it.

DSA sells these in .308. You might want to find out if they offer a conversion kit.

Oh no. That is something I would never consider. A crime against nature. I might as well not be firing it if it is not firing 7.62x54R.

I just can't stop looking ... I don't have words to describe at this time ...

This may be the coolest rifle I've ever seen !! ...

It makes me more determined to get an RPK up and running ...... That's as close as I will ever get to this PKM ...

I've saved the pics ... Hope you don't mind ... I just need to look some more ...

How exactly does someone "put together" a mini-gun??  I know a guy with a post-86 mini.  Is that what you mean?  Just curious.

he has one of those licences that lets him make MGs for sale to LE etc... don't know what you call it, but he made the outer housing, by using the demilled outer housing as a template, and put it together as a working mini-gun.

Corrosive?  I wonder how bad it would be to tear apart and clean...  I too would like videos!

the closest you will get to a PKM, is buying a RPD from  VECTOR ARMS.......2K. I bought one and let me tell you it is fun to shoot.......hardly any recoil, and the trigger pull is surprising better then a AK, very accurate gun better then a AK at 100 yards.......plus just the "evilness" of having a belt fed soviet weapon. it will be a great addition to any collection

Does anyone know why the Soviets went with a RH feed on the PKM?

It costs money to run the indoor range. If you look into their expenses it is more than fair.

Ok, I fired it. It was fast firing and lots of recoil and the brass went like 50 feet. I had it on gas settign 3 though. My friend said he has his set on '1' and it is gentle. I will try it again on other settings and that should tame it. But man, this is an effective weapon that is capable of bringing down a world of hurt.

Almost all the 7.62x54R I've seen for prices like that are corrosive.  I know that S&B, Olympic, Black Hills, and Wolf make stuff that isn't corrosive but at a much higher price.  I would check your PKM to make sure though...  7.62x54R Ammo is a good link to see what you got and here too.

It is code 188/71.

Russia, 1971. Is that corrosive?
Link Posted: 8/4/2005 12:27:04 PM EDT
[#44]
a good rule of thumb to go by...........if it's surplus, it's corrosive. especially if it's coming out of russia, or other east bloc countries, a ounce of prevention, is worth a pound of cure

The gun was about $2500 to $3500, depending on how many barrels, tripod, etc.
