Sorry if this has been posted before.

For those that don't know www.akforum.net is offering a Special Edition Rifle which is an outstanding deal by any measure.  A Hungarian SA-85 AKM (excellent condition kit) build by INRANGE, the same well-known builder responsible for the recently completed SEAK III on this very forum.  The price is only $450, a little more than what folks are paying for WASRs these days and less than the going rate for Vectors.  The following is from the description on www.akforum.net.  Check it out.

"...50 excellent condition kits. NoDak / DCI will be contacted for 50 "Economy" type AK receivers, Arsenal has been chosen for their stainless steel "match grade" gas piston, and finished off with the Gordon Tech G2 Double Hook FCG. The US muzzle nut or slant brake has yet to be determined."

No slam at all at Vector, a company that produces a great rifle and probably has more experience builiding AK's than anyone else in the U.S., but keep in mind that with Vector you are getting a mix of parts from many differing kits (usually Hungarian/Polish parts).

The rifle being offered at www.akforum.net comes from a single kit with matching parts.  Plus it's being build by one of the elite AK builders in this country.  Just a few months ago folks on this site were paying close to $900 for the SEAK III build by INRANGE.

Maybe it's because I've recently become inmersed in the history of Hungarian AK's but has anybody else noticed the large number of Hungarian AK's in the hands of Iraqi militiamen?  A ton of Romanians also and some chinese.

The Palestinians on the other hand seem to carry stamped underfolders almost exlusively along with some Hungarian AMD-65's.  I think it was Arafat or some other big shot who said he was building "a democracy of rifles".

I know what you mean "match grade" has to be taken with a huge grain of salt, just like "new and improved".

Match Grade makes your AK as accurate as an AR. That's what I heard from my NAVY SEAL friend. We are best buds, so he always shares top secret information with me.

Does match grade gas piston have anything to do with accuracy?  Just out of pure curiosity...

Arsenal lists it as Match Grade. I have one in my Intrac and it doesn't seem to make a differance in accuracy, it's a just a better machined piston from what I can tell ...

It's just a marketing "tool" to call the gas piston match grade.  It will function just like the rest of them.  Of course 'without' any extra accurracy.

I agree.  The AK can only be so accurate.

But we did try and source the best possible components we could for this rifle, and keep the price as low as we could.

If someone was to purchase all the parts and have a smith put it together, it could run over $600.00

This one comes complete for only $450.00

Truth be told, my Hungarian SA85M is my favorite AK, and I have a Bulgarian SLR-95!

Here she is:

If these are only 450.00, get one, mine was 280.00 back in the day with a thumbhole stock.  But 450.00 is an excellent price, I think NOW is the good old days for buying AKs.

I took a little trip to the Range this morning to do a comparision of Wolf and Hungarian 7.62x39 and I used the SA85.I sighted in at 50 yards then shot a three shot group at 100 yards with both ammo types.Keep in mind I'm using my 44 year old eyes without an optical sight!

After I left the range,I stopped by the river for a couple quick pics.

The latest over there is a picture of the guys looking for hand picked kits!
I'm number 30 in the deal. It's going to be cool watching them be built.
I'm stoked and I'm not sure I know what that even means being from the central part of the country!
