tried in the romanian section and not even one reply...supposed to stop at the FFl today but I am clueless

OK SOG has the cool looking 22 cal training ak for around $250 and for another $50 I can get the 7.62x39 real deal. I have a few 22.cal rifles (one Galil 22.cal)and only one 7.62x39 (norinco sks) I like the black synthetic stocks of the trainer but also the wood of the standard AK.

I don't have the money for both right now. I know mags are going to be hard to get for the trainer (ony 10rd) and 7.62 ak stuff is everywhere.

If you could only have one what would you get?

I have a few ARs and want to make the transition to AK (it is on my must have list) I have been searching the archives on the 22 training rifles and they look pretty cool.

so far my + and -'s are

Training rifle +'s
$50 cheaper
cheaper ammo
quieter to shoot

-'s
10rd mags
hard to find/expensive mags

7.62x39 +'s
the real deal
cheap mags/drums
good for SHTF & home defense

-'s
now expensive ammo
$50 more

I need help...thanks

I like the .22 AK, but given your inventory I'd say get the AK47 instead. Be sure to look at it well for straight sights and side rail.

And thanks for trying the Romy section first for the all-Romy question. Keeping the main section from being a general dumping ground is a casual evolution, not a revolution.

RS39,

Well said.  Now if we can just get the Yugo questions forwarded to the Yugo forum.

Good advice from the guys here.

I would buy the AK (7.62x39) then follow up with the Ceiner conversion kit for .22.

Approx $150.00

Linkie for Ceiner kit

I have one for my AR and am extremely happy given the basic parameters.

I should note that I do not have any direct experience with the Ceiner AK .22 conversions, perhaps some members can fill in?

Good luck

good lord dont even give it a thought. check out the 7.62 gun, make sure its good and dont look back. you wont question your choice after you dump a mag or 2... 22s are cheap, but you need a "real" ak...

Look at this way. First you will buy the trainer, so now your out $250 which could have been put torward a real AK- which you will want shortly after firing the "trainer". Get the real deal the first time, ammo prices will come back down.

I got (well waiting to take care of the ffl transfer) a Romy AK built on a Ewbanks receiver that has KVAR green nato length furniture on it. I love that OD furniture since the first time I saw an AK with it in the survival forum (shtf weapons thread)

wow that is nice...will have to save up and make one like this number two
I have a bad feeling these are going to be just like AR's and "black rifle disease" can't stop at just one
