I'm looking for some 7.62 NATO/.308 and am wondering who has the best prices. Ammunitionstore.com has Pakistani at $135/K. It this stuff decent ammo? Is it NATO spec?

I'd also like to throw in some .223 and 9x19 into the same order so if you've got any place with good deals on those let me know.

this is the AKforum, right? I'm pretty sure AKs don't fire 7.62 NATO.

Anyway man, I'm also a .308 shooter and I've been pretty pleased with the South African surplus stuff. I've gonna through close to 800 rounds of it in the last month or so, no FTF and it's pretty accurate. You can get 1000 rounds for $154 at aimsurplus.com SA is much, much nicer than that corrosive Pakistani crap. Honestly, it will be a cold day you know where when my FAL eats that stuff. Don't mess with it, buy the SA instead.

Alright. I've shot many, many rounds of the SA through my FAL and she loves it.

Any thoughts on Wolf 150gr. FMJ (the regular steel case, not the Wolf Gold brass case) or the Silver Bear 145gr. FMJ?

One more thing, any ideas of what it might cost to ship a couple of those massive 980 round SA tins?

Are ya really that incompetent that you can't use the link above to find out what their shipping cost is to your front door?

You don't have to buy the ammo to find that out, simply step thru the purchase process until ya get to the part where it ask you your location and the next screen shows you the shipping cost, (which you can accept or cancel out of the order).

Cost $25 UPS shiiping to my front door, YMMV

That was a bit uncalled for. I've been to AIM's site many times but have never went through the order process. At most online retailers I've done business with, they won't tell you how much it costs to ship a very heavy shipment until you've placed your order. I was hoping someone else in my region might have ordered something similar from them and had a rough idea. Thanks for the 'help' though.

Actually, those big massive tins were really 1260 round tins with 2 battlepacks removed so they
can make the shipping weight limit for UPS.
The origonal weight specs on a case of SA .308 is as follows:

Gross Weight: 81.5 lbs
Net weight: 68.5 Lbs
Each pattle pack weighs 7.61 Lbs. (9 packs per tin of 1260 rounds)

They remove about 15.25 lbs by taking out the 2 battle packs to get the weight of the case
down below the UPS 70 lb limit. Shipping weight should be around 66.3 lbs.

Beware when comparing prices on "cases". Make sure you know the count of the case.

I have been paying about $230 P/u for a 1260 round case of SA...
I have a new belt-feed mouth to feed in the family now too....:)
