while at the range with my MAK, I noticed that the upper half of the forearm was canted(rotated) abit. After putting about 300 or so more rounds through it the upper hand gaurd was canted some more. The gas tube is still straight

Is this normal ?

And yes Ive smoked my forearm afew times after bumping a few mags in concession. Is this due to the wood being burnt and loosing up around the gas tube ?


Its not loose as Ive tried to turn it straight by hand and its a no go, guess Ill have to use a bit more persuasion on it to get it straight. ( just tried and a few SOLID palm/heel hits put it back in line

any ideas on whats up here ?

Maybe it is getting twisted as your hand holds it tight while the gun is under torque and wanting to rotate?

its the top half rotating counter-clock wise as you look from the rear, not the mount and gas tube,  just the wood. It rotated about  3/16" out of square

That is what I am talking about, when you are bumping I am assuming you have a death grip on the wood, while the rifle is bucking around.
