I've seen some night sights made for the AK to help in low-light shooting. Are there only mil surplus ones out there, or are there commercial ones out too?

I use an XS Sights AK 24-7 front site. I love it.

70$ Crap, I could make a set for less than that.

Isn't there some glow in the dark paint out there or something similar?

Get what you pay for. Those use a Trijicon tritium front sight post. Ever buy a set of tritum sights for a pistol? If you can make some for less than $70 let us know, I could use a few sets for my new 870 and new Vepr 308.

ETA you may want to look for some kind of fiber optic sight, they are much cheaper than tritium.

I have a set of meprolight sights on mine......That is a front and rear sight...Only down side was I had to find a nut driver to install the front because the OEM sight tool does not work.
I looked a XS but it looked like it was a front only.
I purchased mine and other items from this seller and he has always come thru.

You could but there may be a time when you wouldnt want to turn on a light to
charge your glow in the dark sights. The paint will glow only whe it has been exposed
to light. If you pull the gun form a case or closet at night, the sights will be black
The tritium is the way to go Life expectancy of the newer gas tubes is about 10-12 years.
Pro rate that $70 to the life of the sight, and it comes out to like $6-$7 per year.
If you are going to use them in low light situations, they are the best.

Who does a rear Night sight blade for an AK??

I guess Meprolight is the only option for the rear, but I hate standard rear sights. I wish Kreb's made their peep sight with tritium dots on the sides.

The XS are 45 at Midway and 52 at brownells with a C+R....Best $35 you will ever spend

At brownells, I just put my companies name down(totally not gun related) under the dealer account...

He got a discount for having his C&R on file. What do I win?

Stills?

Without a dog in this fight, you shouldn't throw stones when you yourself don't have your skills up to par.

ps, he was talking about how much for the C&R Liscense.

I was just kidding, hence the "abused" Icon. I didn't follow his math due to poor punctuation (two lines flowing together without a period), but now it makes more sense... $45 and $52 normally, $35 with C+R.

We all be friends over here, it wasn't meant as a real insult.

The E German night sights have dead tritium...absolutely useless except for decoration. I bougth some "strontium aluminate" glow paint that I am going to try on them, I'll let everyone know how it goes. The sights were only $5 + $6 for the paint, so it is worht the $11 to find out if it will at least half-assed work.
