Just bought a scope less Romanian PSL from Centerfire.  What are my scope choices?  Best bang for the buck?

6x42 or 8x42 POSP would be nice choices.  A BP-02 and the scope of your choosing would work well also.

Correct me if I am wrong but for my PSL I need a SVD mount scope, right?

Yup, you need the SVD mount..  The POSP 8x42 is a fine choice.  Best overall deal is from Kalinka Optics....you can save about $30 but you'll have to order it from one of those Russian companies and then wait a couple weeks or more for it and if there is a problem you'll be shipping it back to Russia.

Yes, SVD mount.

I use a 6x42 POSP w/ 1000m range-finder reticle. Use it out to 500 with good results.

I just bought a PSL.

Put a low mount from Kalinka on it and topped it with a Bushnell 3200 10X.  Got the scope on ebay for $180 shipped (new)

1P21 3x-9x, hands-down. The scope has a built-in BDC for the 7.62x54 rd so once you determine range w/the built-in rangefinder you just dial magnification to match (3x = 300m, 5x = 500m, 7.5x = 750m, etc), hold dead-on & squeeze off the rd. Nothing's faster for quick-ranging & COM shots, IMHO (this was my fav scope on my .308 NDM-86 Dragunovs).
Tom
ETA: Since you adjust magnification in order to determine range, both magnification & bullet-drop are set automatically during the ranging process.

I admit to lusting after the IP21...what keeps me away is the price.  I wish the black finish version was available and if it were I'd probably go for one.  One thing that surprised me when I saw one close up is that it's a monster and weighs close to 2 pounds.  But the way it mounts looks like it puts the bulk of the weight over the center of gravity for the rifle.  Besides I shoot mostly with a bipod so it's sort of moot.  There's supposed to be a 4-12 power version in black finish but I've yet to see one.that's actually available.

ETA: I just checked Kalinka and they now carry the black finish IP21...$400 plus shipping.  I'm in trouble now

All good choices listed here I went with the 6x42 as a good overall compromise for what I wanted and it was cheap under 200 bucks shipped!

They were really friendly, shoulda asked them if I could shoot the psl :P
