Hello,

A few days ago I had someone install the battlecomp akbc on my new saiga. ill cut straight to the end of the story, when he was tightening the brake onto the barrel he used quite a bit of force to index it. on his last few turns with the wrench i noticed the front sight post rotated SLIGHTLY, and when he let off it rotated back. on his final torque the same thing happened, it was as if either the barrel itself or front sight post twisted and sprung back as the pressure was taken off. it moved ever so slightly, it maybe rotated 3mm.

now I am getting a little worried thinking to myself this cant be good.. would it even be possible for the barrel to rotate when installing a brake?

Here was the process of the install: remove FSB, cut shroud, press FSB back on, thread barrel, install brake.

could it have just been the FSB? he did remove the FSB when threading the barrel so maybe it was? but then again the FSB is pinned to the barrel..

if it was the barrel should i be worried?

thanks guys!

did you not use a washer to time the brake?

Yeah we used four of the spring washers that came with the battlecomp. With the washers it would hand tighten to about.. 3:00, then we torqued the notch to 12:00

From 3 to 12? That's quite a lot of torque. You should have only went from 9 to 12.

Oh right, sorry I should have clarified. Since it is LH thread, it was at 3:00 and went backwards to 12:00

Oh, okay. The movement you saw was probably just the barrel flexing under the pressure. I wouldn't worry about it if nothing is visually wrong.
