Is this front detent kit really necessary to install a brake or flash hider on a M92?

Would a spot weld be enough?

Yes, a spot weld would be enough, but cleaning it might be a different story.

I'd get the kit. Then when cleaning you can take the brake off and clean the gun properly. It takes very little experience to put one in. You have the gun, you should be able to get a small hammer. Put the spring in, the detent goes next, then finally the roll pin goes in using the afore mention small hammer.

Spend the $12 or whatever it is and get the detent kit.

Far better choice to get the plunger kit than spot welding.
