My first assault weapon was a Norinco Type 56 with underfolding pig sticker when I was 15. It came complete in a wooden box marked with Chinese charachters complete with 6 magazines, cleaning kit and chest rig. I lived in a smaller town in SD and 7.62x39 was difficult to find and often times guys were selling it for 6.00 for 20 rounds. The internet was still "newer" and I didn't have the contacts/resources that I have now, so I was limited in my options.Besides, my parents hated it and would have certainly confiscated any shipped ammo. In Brown County SD 250.00 is probably the going rate for 7.62x39. It seems obscence, but my old town is still selling magazines at "ban" prices. Conversely, my AK guy was selling cases of Wolf for 225.00 at the last gun show, and he was getting that much for them. He's a friend, so I paid 165.00 and I plan on buying 3 more cases this week for that price. Its supply and demand, I might have paid that much considering I just got a new AK and the ammo shortage have prevented me from using my Yugo underfolder as a bullet hose with the stock collapsed. Before I over paid for Wolf, which is supposed to be "cheap", I would price out WWB or other domestic ammo and try to buy that, provided it was similar in price. Its not unavailible, just much more expensive than we are used too. All sources seem to indicate we are near the end of the shortage and hopefully we have all learned to keep a few extra thousand rounds laying about. Don't scoff at this auction to much, he will more than likely get that and its likely the going rate for this ammo where he lives.
