The rail mounts to the forward rivit on the rear trunnion. The ak47 and 74 have different rivit placement so you need to get the correct rail for your application. I got mine from tantal.

uh, whatever you buy, dont buy a ak scope mount for 40 bucks. Get one from K-var, you will be glad that you did. Most of the cheaper ones are just that; cheap. It will not line up correctly. I have had 3 like that, its not worth the hassel
