I'm trying to sight in my Kobra Red Dot and am having no luck. At 25yds my shots are going high and to the right, I have the tool but I can't figure which screw I need to tighten or loosen.
Any website out there that gives a little more instruction? The manual just isn't helping me nor is Tantal's site. I found this on Tantal's site. tantal.kalashnikov.guns.ru/kobrazer.html  So, if i wanted to move my shots down, what direction do I need to turn the dial? Clockwise or counter clockwise?  If I wanted to move my shots left which direction would I turn this dial? Clockwise or counter clockwise? Does the set screw need to be loosened or tightened to adjust the dial? |

Clockwise is down or left, 1cm per click at 100m poi change. When you run out of lap on the dial, loosen the spanner screw a bit, lift and rotate the dial back the other way, reset spanner screw, turn dial again on your new lap of adj. When finally zeroed, set dial to zero.
I'd been using a tiny screwdriver for years to do the spanner adj, before finding the spanner tool hiding in a flap in my sight's box... |

Clockwise to move the POI down.
Clockwise to move POI to the left.
Yes- if the 7th click is still not enough. Loosen the spanner screw will allow you to lift up the adjustment dials off the adjustment mechanism to return the "0" notch to the "indicator mark" without affecting POI. Never loosen the center screw. |

Thanks gents! I got it sighted in at 25yds yesterday. Sunday I'll get it set for 100yds. I did notice that I was able to get some nice tight groups using the dot.

Cool! When paper punching, I find that a round bull is a good match to frame the center dot for best groups. The dot over chevron reticle is great for bracketing your aim over a wide range of yardages.

hey drobs, I bought that same kobra sight from www.freedomoptics.com and the little lens where the beam comes out has glue/bumps on it. Heres a picture I took showing what I mean members.cox.net/outsiders/kobrabumps2.jpg
Does yours have this problem? When I look through my sight the light bleeds into those bumps and you can see it when trying to aim, its pretty annoying hinking.gif Ive been trying to get an exchange/return going with freedomoptics but the guy seems to be giving me the run around and hasnt even replied to my emails now for 5 days |

Zeroing it starts off like this:
look at it and say: Hail Mary full of grace... Then go from there. Seriously, I've heard that when you get it zeroed its pretty close to the M68 as far as accuracy. |

I bought mine this last winter from them. Mine doesn't have any bumps on it like yours but I do see a glue line around but not on the lens. I tried to sight it in on an indoor range over the winter and gave up till recently. I noticed that I prefer a dimmer dot on the sight as it gives of less to no reflection on the window. Have you tried dimming yours down a little? |

welp i got all the glue off of the lens, it only took me 2 hours, about 50 q tips and half a bottle of goobegone hat
ps. ill never buy from freedomoptics ever again! |

Glad to hear you were able to clean it up. Looking at that FO site, I noticed he doesn't include a phone number. I think I heard it's a guy selling these out of his basement as a part time thing. |

My Kobra came from Tantal and has a glue line around the lens but not in the center. This is from the manufacturer, I am glad you guys brought this up, otherwise I would never have noticed it ... |

This is how mine worked. Both dials have the 'offset screw', the really small screw off to the side. Its a detent that keeps it from turning past 7 in either direction. What i did was loosen that, and turn it like crazy until sighted in (elevation took like 4 revolutions if not more, so these things have a ton of adjustment range). Once its sighted in you tighten the little screw back up and leave it, or you can loosen the 'spanner' screw and reset the dial to zero. For mine to do this i had to have both the spanner and offset screws loosened, and the spanner screw had to be loosened a lot. I dont know how many turns its was, but it was more than the 1.5 - 2 turns the instructions said. |
