This is sure to stir some pots :)

Here is phase one of my wife's xmas present. Still working on the pink HG's. Before you comment I want you to keep in mind a few things.

1.This is engine enamel. It will come off with the right solvent and reveal the original Park.
2.Anything that keeps her happy with guns is a good thing.
3.Buying jewelry for gifts is the most unrewarding expenditure of money.

PS. I was trying to get a dull finish. Should i try some steel wool after it cures, or is that asking for trouble.

Weeel , I applaud your devotion to the Little Lady

There are better choices for a "brushed metal " type finish tho.

This was a low budget project...Hell I wouldn't spend the money on duracoat for one of my favorites...KG Gunkote did offer me a pink paint with metallic flakes that I passed up though

Thats actually kinda cool. I dont know about pink handguards. But that a cool finish. Now she wont be the only thing turning heads at the range!

The plan initially was to strip the wood, bleach it, and then stin it a pink/rosewood color....The wood did not bleach well. It ended up everytime with sap or oil spots rising to the surface.

Due to that and time/money constraints, I think I am just going to paint it.

I respectfully submit that this does not look like a good idea....but that's just me. Good luck though

PS: My wife would kill me with it if I did that, more likely she would club me with it like a baby seal

+1. If I even thought of giving anything gun related to my girlfriend... I wish she'd let me build her an AK, I'd do the same "bling" work to it. It's good to see every idea imaginable flowing (aka wives/girlfriends AKs).

I got 3 of those 74 with the skeleton stock when they were $300 and told her i would build her one so she would have something she can call hers when we go shooting. She said she wanted it pink luckily she was just messing with me. We agreed it would have a yellow symbol on it maybe a radioactive sign. On the other hand, she wasn't joking about stabbing me if I got her something gun related for Christmas. But that all fair and good all the stuff she got me was gun related she got me 24 AK-74 mags, a magazine and some other stuff.

Agreed. A pink mag to match, in fact, 3, 1 in the rifle and 2 extras in a transparent plastic kid purse that has littlw flowers on it.

I am doing the mag right now...THey don't hold paint well FYI.

I am also trying to do a sling but it has been the hardest part of the project. None of the slings are bleaching so I can dye it. Frustrating. I think I am just going to get a pink dog leah and use std webbing hardware.

That is the coolest firearm I have ever seen.
Take it to get a legit chrome job and have somebody mold ya' some true pink plastic guards and stock. YOU MUST!!!!!
And do it soon before somebody sees this site and rips you off and we see Uma Therman carrying it in pursuit of Bill.....

Sandpaper, carb cleaner, and a toaster oven work great to get the paint just right for the mags.

but then again I have always used black paint.
