I was set up at a local show last weekend, ended up picking up an RPK from a buddy. Haven't stopped doing the happy dance!

It is a Hesse welded RPK build...BUT everything is straight and true, and since I got it from a friend I trust, I know it shoots great.

It is a real Romanian RPK kit, but Bob had replaced the furniture with a complete set of laminated Russian wood, with the original finish. The wood gave me wood! It has the wonderful Russian orange iodine varnish on it, and is damn near perfect, really sharp looking.

Always wanted an RPK, never saw a real one for sale around here...I did have a doctored NHM-91 for a while, but sold that long ago.

Now I must pick up a drum, drum pouch, 4 more RPK mags and pouch, and another Russian sling...EE here I come!

Get a new reciever, have it riveted and done right then your set.

Is there truly any problem with the weld build, other than it is not correct?

Not that I can think of, theres just a lot of "purists"  on here that think every AK must look the same.
