  I saw this when my Dad and I were Christmas shopping for my Mom...Note we took a detour thru a gun store.... Ive been looking for a excotic Ak variant, when I saw it I told him it is a must have but I am too poor.... The next day he told me he was buying a new tractor, and I saw he was taking quite a bit of cash from the bank....Never thought he woould get it for me, came as quite a shock.... Sorry, It is a Valmet M-78 in .308...It's like a .308 rpk..
I've been looking around tonight and mags seem to be very rare for this rifle. Oh well I have one and I don't intend to put thousands of rounds thru it like my other Aks so one will do.. But I do want a bayonet and correct sling so if anyone has one or knows someone let me know...Thanks |

My dad would normally think it was a waste of money too, but he said he saw my eyes lite up when i say it, and i think he felt quilty bout gettin a $18,000 Kubota for Christmas,
My mom faired well too with a expensive ass digital SLR cam maybe I can take a few pics with it and post them.. |

I saw online somewere that Valmet did not make the mags for this rifle, in fact H&K made them, so yes it is a madified G3 mag...And if the ban sunsets(ahhh hmmm) or not mags should be easily made... |

dude, i am sooooo jealous....
...of your dad's kubota! $18k...that should be about a 45hp machine! cool! seriously, what a nice old 78. bayonets are trading in the $100-150 range and can be found at knob creek. the last 78 i saw for sale was had a $2800 price tag on it (nib with with 6 magazines, bayo, sling, paperwork and box). congrats on getting that rare bird. |

OK here is the real strory...The bank is from my childhood, and the Pooh was from my son's room when i used to be married....
Note the 2 75 round drums on top of the gun collectors digest... The Marx toy howitzer>>> AK47 book Civil War hat... I cant help there is room for a few sentimental items...Maybee after next funshow, the pooh will have to go do to lack of room.... |

Heh, I might be able to help you with mags, and possibly a bayo, my local funstore has lots of fun stuff, I will check tomorrow, and if they have anything I will tell you what their prices are The mags of course will be bastardized to 5 rounds, but all that means is drilling out a pop rivet, and you are left with a small hole, and normal capacity again. or so I hear

Only a nono for you guys if it was manufactured after the ban, these probably are not, we just do not have grandfathered mags, so we HAVE to have 5 rounds in all center fire rifle mags, at least at time of purchase
