The debate over wood stocks vs. polymer is about strength vs. looks right? Glass filled polymer is much tougher than any wood. While working in a plastics factory, we make polymer cylinders that go into car shocks as a buffer. I only bring this up as Century puts polymer hand guards on their M70. So yeah, glass-filled polymer is tougher, at least until they begin making functioning car parts out of wood.

The wood has been battle-proven to be of sufficient strength for the task.

The debate is simply ugly vs. not.

are you serious? everybody knows that they make car parts so they DO break and you have to buy new ones,DUH. that's why they don't use wood.

Yeah, I know because you see wagon-wheeled cars all of the time, in fact most cars are made from wood!
Yeah, I get it wood stocks are pretty, but the Russians though plastic was better as they used it on the stocks for the AK-74.

and then there is the Morgan motor cars from UK.  IIRC they are built on a ash wood frame, an uncle of mine had one years ago and it looks like they are still making them.

Personally I like the plastic stuff, worked in the plastic industry for many years.

The AK is from 1949, however MODERN firearms incorporate plastics into their construction. NOW, yes you can customize modern firearms and vehicles with aftermarket wood parts, but plastics are the way to go for durability and strength. If you are looking for collectability or beauty, choose wood.
