I belive the code dates it as a 2000 import.  Seller advises all is well and it has never failed him.

Code on the left of the receiver

S3-07970-2000

hammer is square, gas block is straight and the finish is good....

Im trading a Kahr MK40 that i was trying to sell for $475 to $500 for the gun and a $100 Benchmade pocket knife......

Do you have or have you fired a SAR-3 and what do you think.

is there any specific reason you want a .223 over a 5.45 or 7.62x39 rifle?

I will never get rid of my Sar 3

They are great fun to shoot and an AK in .223 is especially useful if you have  or get an AR.

Moneywise it sounds like a fair deal.

If you get it also buy some "weiger" steel mags.

If your going to get $475 out of the Kahr, I'm thinking the $100 pocket knife makes it lopsided in the other guy's favor. If you really want it then make him throw in mags too ...

I think the price is high.  There have been a couple for sale on the EE and other spots for $400 or less and they have sat awhile.  I sold one this spring for $375 shipped and it took a week or more to move.  You definetly need him to throw in some mags or ammo.

You can buy a new Romanian WASR 3 in .223 for $329.00....your trading away way to much. $400 tops on a SAR 3. He should trade and give you some cash...if not get the WASR3 in .223.

OK, that does sound better since you are getting the knife.  At first it seemed that you were giving him a knife also.  Figure the mags are worth maybe $40 bucks, I personally don't put a lot of value on a used case.

The fun factor of the AK is way higher than that of a Kahr, imho.  If you make the deal you will love the SAR3.  I miss mine.

Not to hijack, but do SAR3's take the bulgy .223 waffles?  If not, can the SAR3 be modified to accept them?

Good deal take it. If the gun has issues they are easy to fix.

Your original post made me think you were trading the Kahr and the knife. From what you have listed above, it's a good deal ...

HeavyMetal - so what kind of modification?  Is there FAQ somewhere explaining such a thing?

I paid $500 for my SAR-3 with 4 bakelit mags. I consider it to be a good deal, even though only one of the bakelite mags works. I would make that trade in a heartbeat. You can get more Weiger mags from Inter Ordnance. I just ordered 5 for $65 plus shipping. They're a little steep, but if they work they'll be worth every penny.

I love my SAR-3. It's accurate for an AK and it's a blast to shoot.
