Talking to someone the other day about ak's and all the variants and he said he would give up his small collection for a NIB Mitchell yugo of any kind and I found this interesting so It got me thinking about what I would give up my small family of ak's for and ever since I fondled a NDM-86 and looked at its scope that had never even been lifted out of its wooden box about a year ago in a local gun shop I can't stop thinking bout how sexy that damn thing was so a NDM-86 in either caliber is my choice. so what's yours if you could only have one or the one you would give your left nut for And if you already have it your no fun at all
Just to be fair let's keep it to ak's that you can actually legally own in the US because we all know we would choose some sort of select fire military rifle BTW if i could choose ANY ak it would be a Russian PP-19 Bizon |

Type 1 Russian AK47. Since I got the Type 2 I wanted for so long the T1 is my new holy grail of AKs..haha

SGL31-94 (AK74M clone)
Been wanting one of these for a while now. With a good optic, this would be my "one and only" weapon. |

I already own it, a .308 Vepr customized to my needs. Don't need or desire anything rare or uber expensive, just functional/practical and fun to shoot.
If I'm going to drop serious money on a rifle, it won't be AK based. |
|
SLR107-64
SLR106-54 Both of which in the original sub 16" barrel form. |
|
If we're taking semi auto stuff.... I just built it with my Micro-105. It is a one of a kind as far as I know.... for now anyway.
If I'm dreaming it would have to be a full auto 7.62 Krink. D. |

This is it, for me. Simple, light, compact, just plain gorgeous, will send a lot of lead down range with just a few pulls of the trigger, and it looks evl.

Compared to something compact (AKSU, 8" S12, etc), the Legend is a pig. Don't get me wrong, I liked both of mine (had a NM too), but that wouldn't be my "one". I'd rather have something that I won't mind carrying for a while. The smaller and lighter, the better. |

I recently got mine after several years of waiting. An Arsenal SLR-107CR, which will be SBR'ed as soon as my Form 1 gets approved.

I've bought everything I ever wanted, but I'd give my left nut as you say to have them all back...

My russian underfolder I had in Afghanistan, carried it folded on my lap while TCing many a mission loaded with a 30rd mag of 7.62 AP incendiary. Couldnt bring it home tho, so only have photos to remember it by http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc102/soldier_medic/Guns/underfolder002.jpg For the win. A rifle that you carried into harm's way would be priceless to have now. |

As for me, I was fortunate enough to have bought a new FEG SA85M post-ban in 1996 and smart enough to keep it, although I did convert it to 'pre-ban'. I did recently pick up an 'AMD65' too. I like the FEGs. Since I also have ARs, I'm satisfied with my AK situation and wouldn't give either one up to get any other one that I have seen or heard of. So I'm in the 'you're no fun' category as a satisfied AK owner who does look at all the offerings but never gets serious about buying anything new..

I could definitely go with that and the armor-piercing variant ammo. |

It would be a pre ban Zastava for me...Full stock or underfolder––either would be fine. Both would be better.
I have a beautiful pre ban Poly Tech Red Bakelite Side Folder that I'm quite fond of. I've owned her since the late 1980s. In all those years I have only put 60 rounds through her. I'd be hard pressed to sell her, but I'd trade her for an equally impressive Zastava in a heartbeat. |
|
It would be the 106UR sitting in my safe.
It's the only AK I ever wanted, a Krink. It's chambered in 5.56, so I don't have to stock another caliber. Most importantly, It's one the feds don't know about. * * And then I made this post. |

AK-102
I would want something with common ammunition if I could only have one. And .223 and 7.62 are the most common. |

AKMs, Type 1s, Type 2s, AK-74s, and even AKS-74Us are all great guns, but at the end of the day they are not rare at all. Sure they are rare here, and REAL ones are pretty much non existent here, but in the rest of the world some of those can be bought for a kitchen. This is why for me, the AK that I would want is hands down the AKMSU. It's as rare as it gets. not only rare here, since there are none, but rare in the rest of the worl b/c there is just one. It is not even a "real" production gun, even though so many thought it was, and some still say it is, and was just a one off gun built with Russian parts on a Chinese receiver, but the stories that come with it are awesome, and it is truley a one of a kind. The AKMSU hands down gets my vote! Hence why in about a year or two (Transfer times and build times with Ted Marshall) I should have an exact replica of it, even down to the serial numbers and dates on trunnion, done being made out of my registered underfolder Polytech =) So far I have the registered gun, one of the custom muzzle brakes, and the wooden handguard. Still quite a few more parts to go, but I'll get there. http://en.valka.cz/attachments/23309/AKMS-U.jpg wicked cool! |

You have been across the board as far as what to build on your two transferables and I must say, bravo. That is absolutely sick. For the love of Heaven, please post pics once it's done!!!!! And just because I'm curious......have you made a final decision on your second one yet? What will it turn out to be? |
