Are Russian mags the only ones made with the 4 spot weld dimples on the feed lips?

If so, I got 12 NIW (New In Wrapper)

No Pics,I don't have a digital camera, sorry.

ETA: I'm leaving 8 wrapped

Nope. I got 10 all Polish. One guy got over 100 and none were Romanian but Polish.
Lots of people are getting Romanian too though.

I ordered 40.

Most are Polish mags, plus a few well used Romanians.

1 unknown, beat, filled with dried mud(how?) and rusty.

12 Mags with 4 dimple/spot welds on the feed lips, just like the pics of the Russian ones in the Mag ID thread,NIW.

Marco, over on Gunco, a guy posted pics of his and some of them look just like mine (but used), he says they are Russian too.

"8"

ETA:"9" on another, maybe.

"22" on the spine, "7" on the bottom sides of some of the bodies at the three stripe ribs.
This one is polish, and if it is they all are, as they are wrapped the same.

Oh well, they are still NIW

Dude, I think the ones that had "22" on the rib were decidedly romy. If not, I got 20 some polish ones. I think 99% of these are romy. I'm sure there is more than one factory in romyland making these which will account for the variations.

All 10 of mine are exactly like this one. Only 2 of the bunch had the 4 spot weld marks on the feed lip.

From the research Ive come up with they are all Polish. The Romanians I bought in the past dont have that side spot weld.

22 on the backrib is rommy, all of mine have that

however those are pretty deep weld dimples... none of mine are that deep (or maybe its just in the pics)

ETA: is there another country we might be overlooking? these seem to take attributes from 3 different countries and put them all in one mag

Thanks Marco, All mine look just like them except the feed lip spot welds are very clear.
They are also BLUED not painted.
I think the Romanians were all over the place in what they did, how they did it and the QC.

+1, in my SG packs i got one that was brand new and flawless.......except for the fact that a bulge inside the feedlips had the follower jammed solid at the top of the mag.  after applying some brute force i was able to remove the follower and spring.

i did manage to find one Russian AKM mag in my grab bags

All the mags were blued steel. None had the Romanian spray texture. I do have a 40 round blued steel that is Russian and as you described 4 very distinct feed lip dimples. Many of the Warsaw Pact designs were very similar.

Do you mean they're individually sealed in white plastic bags?

If so, that's Sportsmans Guide wrapping.

Nope, they are wrapped in pairs in brown paper, with a paper insert stuck between the follower and the feed lips. Just like some NIW E German AK74 mags I got from Northridge.

Anyone here capable/knowledgable to post an improved mag Id thread that is more comprehensive with better pics?
