but I thought a little variety might be appreciated.

I replaced the M249-style furniture on my Imbel FN/FAL last night with a more "authentic" set from entreprise arms.  I also went back with the original dust cover.

I just recently watched Top Ten Combat Rifles on The Military Channel and was inspired by the show's content.  (The AK-47 was #1 by the way houghthttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v51/dmcantrell/toys/fal_249_stock1.jpg

I LOVE FALs.

I have a DSA STG-58, but I want a short barreled para next.

I agree. Ditch the stock. But I would have kept the scope mt. topcover.

Well, I still have the dust cover with the rails -- it's just not on the rifle right now.  Truth be told, I can shoot targets consistently out to 600-700yds with just iron sights.  I think that's more fun then scoped shooting.  I have a .308 bolt action M70 Stealth for that.

Hey looks alot better!  I'm picking up a FAL soon.  Probably will be a STG-58 because I'm not dropping $1500 on another battle rifle.  I spent more on my HK-91 than any other firearm I own.

Are you going to buy a complete rifle?  The reason i ask is because this one was built from a de-mil'd kit in my garage.  Just today I've been looking around, because I was thinking of building another one.  Imbel parts kits are ~$200 -- but wait till you try to get an upper receiver.

When I built this rifle back in 2003, the Imbel gear-logo receivers were ~$200.  Now that the 2005 laws have changed, you can't even get the Imbel receivers anymore and the U.S. made knockoffs are $500+.  FFS

I saw one (a rebuild with a DSA receiver) at a gun show in Fort Worth last weekend, and it was $1900 for the complete rifle.  There was one sitting next to it that was $5000 -- but it was an original Fabrique Nationale semi-auto with a single-digit serial number.

I love FALs. I would have changed the stock my self but would keep the scope rail and get some kind of optics like a Kobra with a weaver mount on it. THats the great thing about it being YOUR FAL though because you can take off what you want. LOL Nice picks and nice rifle with a fantastic caliber to boot. Congrats.

I love FALs-they're the best of the main battle rifles IMHO. I have DSA FAL, and it's a blast to shoot.

Awesome choice on losing that stock....I can't lie to you dude, I may have puked a little in my mouth when I saw that pic of it on your rifle. FALs are beautiful in thier natural form, don't mess with it Apologies, FAL purist talking here.......

You should hide the pic of that old furniture before somebody here wants to put it on their AK.
