Why do I see quite a few pictures of people with side rail mounted optics on a side folding stock AK? I was told that you can't fold the stock without taking off the optic.

On another note... why does it cost like $150 to get the Arsenal SLR-107FR over the Arsenal SLR-107F? It seems as $150 is way too much for a side rail. I'm tempted to get an Arsenal SLR-107F with one of those new Larue red dot/iron sight.

True - you cannot fold the stock with optics attached. (The only time you really want to fold the stock anyway is for storage)

Prices vary according to your location - In my area the SLR107F sells for about the same as the SLR107FR.
The only benefit I can think of if you have to pay a little more is that the rail was attached at the factory - rather than taking the chance of some hack job gunsmith trying to do it and Fu-barring your receiver

It depends on which side the folder goes to, there are folders that go to the right side of the rifle and is no where near the scope mount. If the stock folds to the left, then the others have answered your question.
