Thanks to Kami211 we know this is an AMR 69 built by peice of history firearms.

your so so right Temp.........it blows bigtime that we owners of 'evil" guns are getting the shaft bigtime

the only good thing of all this..the prices keep dropping and dropping...for etc...I pay on average about 400 CDN thats about 330 US for real AK/AKM's...be it Russian, Polish, Yugo..what have you
Link Posted: 9/17/2005 7:10:59 PM EDT
Are you serious?! You can get a russian AKM for $330? What do they do to the gun to make it semi, but still have the 3rd hole? Use the honor system you wont put the rest of the parts in?

the minimum that has to be done is the following

1. auto sear has to be removed
2. auto sear trip has to be ground off the bolt carrier
3. the disconnector has to be ground down on the tail where the selector bears down on it

thats it

so you do the math of converting back..won't say anything on that since it is ilegal

and very serious on the prices...I paided 500CDN..about 420 bucks for a minty Yugo M72B1 RPK

I had one of those kits that I got a a gun show in Austin back in 94. I was going to build it on one of my prebans I had. I think I paid $150 for it. But I moved to Kali and I had to loose my aks. So I sold it to some guy in kali for $400. Damn I wish i would hav e kept it. The optic is really for just the grenades so it is kind lame. IMHO But it would have been a fun rifle to have, Oh well live and learn.

I got a kit last year. It came in the PLO shipment.. One of two. There was allot of neat kits in there, just had to know the right guy to ask...

Mine had the scope rail cut thru and no scope though....
Link Posted: 9/18/2005 5:31:34 AM EDT
Anyone know a source for the scope mount on the AMR69? I've got some AMDs that would look great with some of those.

The AMR 69 is a pretty neat gun, I used to have access to one where I worked. I went out and shot it a few times but I took off the grenade luancher sight too much of a pain for normal shooting. I don't remember much about it other than the handguard moved back and forth like a pump shotgun. I would guess to clear the grenade launching blank ofter you fired a grenade?

Tantal might be doing some repros.

My kit-

The handguards and stock are spring loaded to reduce felt recoil when launching the grenades. The Scope is intended for that purpose as well.

I have been wanting to make one of my many AMD-65 kits into one of these.

Could you take some pics of the "scope" please. Maybe both sides, and down the tube. A ruler in the pic would be nice for scale. And a close up of the gas block...

Thanks!

two piece muzzle device? hmmm
Link Posted: 9/18/2005 9:15:02 PM EDT
yep two piece..you'll notice in the last pic..the detent that locks the outer sleeve onto the barrel..the barrel is rifled to the end

[Last Edit: 9/18/2005 9:18:54 PM EDT by 1Gunner]
so only one muzzle cover, the rest from the FSB is bare barrel
Link Posted: 9/18/2005 9:21:17 PM EDT
the sleeve only comes off for cleaning as I was told by an ex Hungarian Army buddy... so yes only one sleeve per launcher rifle

Honestly, there is no realistic way to convert an AMD65 into an AMP69 without it looking like a bubbaized POS. The only part they share is the pistol grip. All other parts are VERY different.

Stot hit it on the head pretty much..unless you find a real AMP barrel assy, buttstock, side mount, front handguard/recoil rails...your going to have a very bubba'd looking AMD

Thanks for the pics. The sight looks doable. At least with the ruler in the pic, I can get the proportions pretty close.

A Yugo gas block is close, but would need some milling to remove the sling ring lugs. It would also need to be built up with weld and remilled on the bottom to get the shape of the cleaning rod lug right. The pic of the gas selector switch will help with fabricating a dummy piece.

The launcher is a fairly easy piece to copy. A little lathe and mill work will get a reasonable facsimile.

The buttstock will take some work, but can be done. It wouldn't be too tough to add a buffer spring and make it functional, but that's a lot of extra work. It would be nice to do the front grip on the rails, but again that's a lot of extra work.

The front grip will be time consuming, but not impossible. Without an original to copy, it'll have to be close enough. I'll have to see if I can track down one of them first.

I can't believe you guys don't have that much faith in my fabrication skills...

.45ACP bolt/carrier

.45 barrel turned to accept RPK barrel blocks

The plastic grip is going to be replaced with a milled aluminum cover, when I get a chance to get back on the mill.
