Hello all, I wanted to go shooting this christmas break, but the only rifle range I can shoot at is an indoor range that only lets shooters shoot softpoint when using high powered rifles.

That said, is tulammo 7.62x39mm reliable in an AK-47? I know that it's a bit underpowered in .223, but how about in 7.62?

it works just fine, is non corrosive, but not the most accurate, with the 1 in 10 being a flier from the ones I have shot.

It works great in Carbine length gas systems.  Spotty in mid-lengths.

I bought 60 rounds locally a few months ago - 4 duds - one of which just simmered after the pin-struck it and I'm about the yank the bolt open and "BAM" it fired.

Freaked me out and I gave my last 5-6 rounds to someone else at the range.

I wish I could try some. My range doesn't allow steel

I shot about 1,750 rds. of it at a Tactical Response fighting rifle course.in both my Yugo m70ab2 and Gen. 2 Glock 22. I didn't really test the accuracy but every time I pulled the trigger a round left the muzzle and hit the target.

easy for you to say. There is exactly one indoor rifle range within 30 miles of me. I dont know if they allow steel jacketed ammo, but their website certainly doesn't say so.

They probably don't allow steel because most indoor ranges don't call a cease fire to pick up brass forward of the firing line, thereby making it "their" brass.  Steel isn't worth much, but they can sell the brass and make some money off of it.  Just confirm that by "steel" they don't mean steel core bullets and not steel case ammo.

This - Steal Core is what most ranges don't want - Steel Case should never be an issue.

My MAK 90 loves the stuff, and my local Wal-mart sells it for just under five bucks a box, so I keep a bunch of it on hand.
Haven't had any issues with it.

I was sent some 124gr SP the last time I ordered some ammo.  My most finicky rifle is my SBR VZ-58 and it won't cycle HP's reliably, just FMJ.  I've burned through ~200 rounds, most of which was yesterday, and I haven't had one malfunction.  I can't speak for the heavier weight stuff though.  The 124gr SP is good to go.

My Hungarian AMD-65 thinks Tula is delicious.

I have had one dud in about 1k rounds so far.  Dented primer, no bang.

I will be buying more.

It's the only thing that I've ever run through my AK.  Plenty accurate in my guns. +/- 2" groups at 50 yards.  Not precision rifle accurate, but plenty good for my AK.

I put 2 mags full of Tula FMJ through my WASR today and it went bang every time I pulled the trigger. Will be buying more.

I've put ~300 rounds of it through my 16" middy AR and never had a failure or malfunction of any kind. Granted, I've experienced a few key-holing bullets, but from what I've researched, that's not uncommon with Tulammo .223.
Some rifles just don't like it though.

I've put hundreds of Tula 7.62x39 through my AK, zero malfunctions! Plenty accurate for range/training days. I've put thousands of rounds of Tula 5.45x39 though my AK74 with about 2 FTE... again, plenty accurate for range/training days.

Haven't used .223/5.56 yet, will this weekend though, hehe... SU16 testing. Anyway, I think Tula is great ammo for the price! At least in AKs that is... other weapons don't like steel case.

Why wouldn't someone prefer a rifle that eats every type of shit ammo on the planet? When the SHTF, you only care that it goes bang and will eat what you can find.
