HP is just a hole in the front end of the hollow cavity; same weight balance.
SP is much shorter and accuracy for the one box Ober and I tried sucked terribly. |

ok, will stay away from SPs thanx.
But do the HPs actually expand? |

I think they do a little bit but not like you would expect a high qauility U.S. made SP would.
I would buy the ammo just to have somthing tp plink with. I let a 12 year old who had never shot an Ak before put about 6 mags worth through my rifle. I let him use the Sp just to burn it up. he had the time of his life and could control the rifle. |

I have used both Barnaul hollow points and and soft points in my Sar-2. I dug a hollow point out of a tree I had shot and the hollow point had not expanded at all. The soft points do seem to open up a little. Accuracy with the soft points is erratic. I will be able to get 2-3 MOA for about 5 shots and then there will be a flier. I mean way off target. I think it is because the Barnaul 55 grain bullet is so much shorter than the FMJ bullet the chamber was designed to use.
