What is the time line for the transition to the AK74 type gun in Poland. I just got a Under folder kit and it is marked 1984 seems late for a 7.62mm. But I don't know.
Thanks

Not to late. They are actually still making 7.62 guns.

What stottman said.

The AKM/AKMS rifles were in production during the entire production of the Tantal from beginning to end.

Today, select fire variations that are in the Polish Army's hands are some times sent to be re-furbished by Lucznik.  Some of these were recently sold to Iraq.

While AKM/AKMS rifles aren't in production in Poland for Polish military use; they offered for export and made on order.

There are still a number of AKM/AKMS rifles in Polish Army arsenals and used by various units; though most use the new 5.56 Beryl.
