I just bought a Russian SKS from a local gun store and I cant seem to find any info about it. There is no marking on the top cover (ie a Tula or Izchevsh sp? symbol) or a date. The charging handle is all black and has a blade bayo on it. Can anyone help me?

This site should tell you what you need to know. I almost passed up a very good 55 Tula because there were no markings on the receiver cover till I found out from Yooper's site that 55 Tulas had the star on the left side of the receiver. Now it is in my safe !!
