Quoted: I want to put a FSB new front sight base on my aks sporter to get it back to original config. the guy I bought it from shaved off the top of the sight hood to make it an open eared type. Id also like to put one on that had the ears for the cleaning rod in place. I guess ATF thinks anything that hangs down below the barrel was to mount a bayonet. So where is the best palce to buy a replacement for the Norinco and/or will all metric communist bloc parts fit it? Any concernes with replacling like taper pin hole not ligning up like the AR15 FSBs?
Another quest. Did Norinco side folders come from the factory with wood or or orange plastic bakelite forends and HG? |
The MAK-90 was considered a sporter so it was never made to have a cleaning rod installed. Take a look and the lower handguard retainer, it has no hole drilled in it to allow a rod to pass through. Also Chinese stuff tends to be a little out fo spec with Europeans AKs so a FSB from Romania or Hungary probably wont fit, also the MAK-90 barrel is a little thicker anyway so i KNOW it probably wont fit.
The only route to really go is to find a mak-90 FSB used and install it OR go to this company.
Polytech parts they sell the old Polytech parts for chinese guns. give them a call and see if their FSB will fit a mak-90. It most likely will since MAk-90s were really just Norincos that had been "buttholed" to comply with the ban of 1989.
