HF has the 12 ton A frame on sale for $79.  Is the A frame the one that most of you use?  The also have the H which is a lot more.

Personally, I prefer the H press. I have used a 12T for flats, but I decided to buy the 20T. The frames are welded (less flex) on the 20T. HF retail has the 20T for $179 now and if you use the 20% off coupon, it is below $150.

The "H" frame press also has more clearance for pressing barrels etc.

Dale, does that mean the "A" frame doesn't have enough clearance for barrel pressing?

I'm on a budget, so if I can get by with the A frame price I would be saving half of the cost of the H.  Anyone out there with the A frame have anything to add - pros cons.

I have the 12 ton H frame.  The only thing I don't like about it as the pressing bar frame has a lot of play in it sideways between the rails which can cause some problems when trying to line up smaller pins.  I cut a thin peice of 3/8" wood and ran it along the inside of the rails and it took most of the play out.  When I really need to get it tight, I jam a small pin in the other side between the press bar frame and the rails to eliminate all sidways movement.

I have the 12 ton h-frame. much better after I welded it together. welded shims into the ram to limit side load . plenty of power for what you want to do.I looked at the A-frame but I don't think it has the height you need.    R1150R
